» Awareness
The protection and development operation covers some 165 hectares to include the natural environment crossed by the river Gardon and touches upon tree communes:
|
| | |   | Castillon du Gard.
The operation is based on three principles: |
| | |   | protection of the environment and heritage, |
| | |   | local economic development.
|
» Philosophy of the development project
The Pont du Gard site took up the challenge of offering a high level, high quality cultural input, worthy of a UNESCO World Heritage site while respecting the local tradition of free access to the Pont du Gard site for a picnic, a dip in the river or a walk in the countryside.
The site has been cleaned (electricity cables buried), restored and is maintained.
Casual street traders have been removed and car parking reorganised in favour of more discreet and better integrated structures. |
| When entering this site we hope that you will accompany is in our efforts to respect this environment. |
