Yes, everybody has heard about Pont du Gard. However, who really knows what exactly this bolt from the blue is ? What was its purpose ? Who was once able to achieve this feat? And what did it become during the Middle Age or the Renaissance ? Above all else, what kind of magic left this monument mostly intact 2000 years after its construction ?

A dive into the history of Pont du Gard, the worlds highest Roman bridge

Travel through time in the tremendous museum to find out all the answers to these questions. Visitors of all ages will enjoy discovering the therms and how a domus worked. Listen to the story of a fabulous hydraulic project and find out about ... THE real size construction site and much more!

Maquette de l'eau dans Ludo (Yann de Fareins)

Visit Ludo, a toy library specifically designed by museographists from the Cité des Enfants de la Villette (Paris) for children from 5 to 12 years old. Helped by their parents they will be able to step into the shoes of a Gallo-Roman pupil, an archeologist, a hydraulic engineer or even a botanist! Everthing was made for touching, handling, experiencing and discovering by oneself. Make learning fun in this place dedicated to water, stones and the people of the Mediterranean.

Around the monument: a 72 acre discovery ground

Thanks to a 72 acre discovery ground, combine indoor cultural activities with the outdoor attractions (Mémoires de Garrigues, the bridge and the acqueduc’s remains, the thematic trails). Or would you prefer swimming, going to the arboretum or participating in a workshop? That’s what makes this venue unique in France!

The masterpiece of Pont du Gard will reveal itself progressively out of a peaceful setting of greenery. Your eyes will be delighted when they first fall upon a magnificent bridge, then another one and then another one! Next you’ll be stunned by its prodigious, fascinating monumentality. You and your littles ones will be amazed by this sudden apparition.

Many other points of view, trails and discovery activities are waiting for you! Just like “Mémoires de garrigue”, an original open air exhibition that tells the story of a Mediteranean landscape over the distance of more than one kilometre.
